By Emmett McLoughlin. The self-defrocked author of 1954's People's Padre (and Crime and Immorality in the Catholic Church) returns to uncover the conspiracies and motives that led to the murder of The Great Emancipator...and it all seems rather quaint at this distance, but McLoughlin's slim hardcover is an interesting window into what mid-century history buffs were thinking about.

This book isn't easy to find, at least in this edition (a first), and the dust jacket is about what you'd expect: edgewear to the top and bottom covers, and particularly at the bottom of the spin, where there's a half-inch tear. The book itself has marbled covers and is quite tidy: no dog-ears, no writing, not much toning to the pages, and everything's square and tight.
