Edited by Marie F. Rodell (the series) and Beatrice St. J. Ravenel (this volume); Vol. VII in the Regional Murder Series (yes, "really"). Cases include Captain Dawson, Lavinia Fisher, and others -- and the bios of each chapter's author are a window into a different time.
So is the book itself; this hardcover 1947 first printing is without its jacket, and shows some shelfwear and page toning consistent with its age. Top and bottom of the spine are quite scuffed; the covers have a few scuffs and dings. Very slight cock to the spine, and some pages have "bites" out. (This HC came to me via the Friends of the Beaufort Libraries; no other library markings, but circulation might explain some of the wear.)
But books from these series seldom cross my desk; you could do worse than this one.
