By Dorothy Kilgallen. Kilgallen, in the mix on cases from Sam Sheppard to the assassination of John F. Kennedy to...Sinatra?, was one of the first 500 personages to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and her true-crime writing is now highly sought-after. You have to wonder how the genre would look if she'd stayed in it longer...

This hardcover is a 1967 Book Club Edition, and the dust jacket's a bit of a disaster, let's be honest: very toned, especially on the spine; chips and rips and cracks; it's torn so severely on the flaps that they're not really attached anymore, and I didn't want to pull them out to check the boards lest they disintegrate. The boards look okay from what I can see, though -- some edgewear, but no visible cardboard. The pages are mildly toned but otherwise in fine shape, no marks or dog-ears that I could find. With the addition of a plastic sleeve, it's a lovely reading copy -- and this rarity is at a very competitive price point.
