By Beverly Lowry. "In the tradition of Truman Capote's In Cold Blood" is a big, but precisely targeted swing for the back cover copy (although a blurb from Michiko Kakutani of all people makes the comp as well); Lowry, a novelist "grappling with the death of her own teenage son...went to meet Karla Faye [Tucker] on Death Row." Tucker, who was executed by the state of Texas in 1998, is probably the highest-profile female death-penalty case.
This paperback isn't great -- creases, edgewear, a cracked spine -- but it sits pretty straight, and the price is right.
