By Dorothy Kilgallen. Kilgallen, in the mix on cases from Sam Sheppard to the assassination of John F. Kennedy to...Sinatra?, was one of the first 500 personages to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and her true-crime writing is now highly sought-after. You have to wonder how the genre would look if she'd stayed in it longer...
This hardcover is a 1967 Book Club Edition, in okay shape -- the jacket's got extensive shelfwear, splits and tears to edges as shown; leading edges also worn and split in places. Boards have some cornerwear but are all right. The spine itself has a bit of a forward lean, and the center hinge is a little weak (see pics). Previous owner's label on the front flyleaf; some foxing to inside of jacket and pages, and toning to jacket and pages.
There is also a pronounced old-book smell; this may fade once the book has a chance to sit unwrapped/unstored, and for some buyers, this is a value-add! For others, it's...just mildewy, so if you find this bothersome, this isn't the copy for you. That said, it's a competitive price point for this avidly sought rarity, which will be packed carefully. (I strongly suggest upgrading your shipping method at checkout.)
