By Michael Newton. "The shocking true story of a recreational killer's gruesome career" -- the back cover explains the difference between assassins and "thrill killers" before promising a "chilling" portrait of Carroll Edward Cole, who allegedly "accomplished" his first murder at age 10.
Newton and the publisher clearly steered hard into "terrorizing a demographic not terribly likely to get serial-killed" as a sales strategy, and the previous owner was scared enough to separate the cover partway from the meat of the book (see pics). This paperback was read intensely, I would say, as there's also edgewear, the spine is faded and cracked, and there's a notch out of the bottom of the spine. Happy to put a dot of glue on the spine if you're two dollars' worth of curious about Eddie Cole.
