By Kenneth Gross. “In the summer of 1965, in the New York City borough of Queens, two small children were murdered. Almost immediately their mother, Alice Crimmins, became the central suspect in a sensational and tragic case that has made headlines for a decade and is still not finally resolved…” 1. Some would say it STILL isn’t, half a century after Gross’s 1975 account. 2. Anyone else miss the midcentury days of just putting the logline on the cover of books?

This Book Club hardcover’s dust jacket is in decent shape for its age, some shelfwear and cracking/flaking at the spine. Boards have some cornerwear but are holding steady. Previous owner left their name and a flyleaf update on Crimmins’s parole (see pics). There’s some foxing/spotting to the page edges, but inside, pages are clean and bright, no writing or dog-ears. A solid reading copy.
