Edited by Otto Penzler and Thomas H. Cook. Intro and essay by year's editor James Ellroy. I tended to skip these, but Ellroy's in this edition is about Joseph Wambaugh and his in-/aspirational qualities for Ellroy. Other work is by, among others, Skip Hollandsworth, David Grann, and Lawrence Wright.
This paperback is a bit down at heel, as you can see -- rubbed corners and edges; a sticker on the back; the kicked-up page corners at the bottom -- but the spine is straight and uncracked and the pages are clean. A fine reading copy.
