By Peter Maas. This Edgar Award-winner often shows up on best-of lists; this hardcover's dust jacket might not -- it's visibly edgeworn at the corners -- but at least you still get to enjoy a diverting author photo in which Maas appears to be seconds away from falling out of his chair.
The book itself is nearly pristine: straight, tight, clean pages. Not sure this one's ever been opened; why not be the first?
