Published 1847 by William Clowes and Sons, London. Chapters include "Memoir of Sir Nicholas Throckmorton," "Introduction to the trial of [Dr. William] Parry," Sir Walter Raleigh, "Confession and Execution of the Earl of Essex," and more.
The volume predates the majority of U.S. states, so wear is as expected: edge- and cornerwear, some nicks and rubs and water staining to the covers, fading to the spine and gilt, page toning and some crunched/pushed-in pages, and somewhat loose hinges at front and back; the latter two-thirds of the book looks as though it may have gotten wet at some point. And this font...maybe I should package this with a loupe.
Still, our aged friend is readable (in strong light), relatively unfoxed, with a faint but pleasing old-book smell. A charming little antique that may be of some reference use as well.
