Edited by Marie F. Rodell (the series) and Oliver Weld Bayer (this volume); Vol. VI in the Regional Murder Series (yes, "really"). Cases include the Galentine-Jones affair, the "Head Hunter of Kingsbury Run," and others -- and the bios of each chapter's author are a window into a different time.
So is the book itself; this hardcover 1947 first printing is without its jacket, and shows some shelfwear and page toning consistent with its age. Top and bottom of the spine and leaning corners are worn/scuffed; the covers have a few scuffs and dings. The pages are snug in the spine, but a few are torn, and one has a bite out of sorts.
But books from these series seldom cross my desk; you could do worse than this one.
