By Dave Distel with Lynn Distel. "Previously published as The Sweater Letter," so you might assume there's some college-sports/fraternity connection, but I can't see one; the current title is much closer to describing the case, in which Bruce Moilanen staged a "hunting accident" to collect on the wife's life insurance policy.
You have to love jacket copy that describes the prime suspect as both a "pest" and a "chiseler" -- a chiseler! did my dad write this? -- and this paperback can hook you up there. It's got edgewear to the covers and a cracked spine, plus some wavy pages towards the back that suggest it's been to the beach and back, and there's a split along the front cover's spine track (I'm happy to repair that for you real quick). But as two-bucks-'n'-chucks go, it's got at least one more read in it, if you're looking for a PB for your beach trip.
