Edited by Marie F. Rodell (the series) and Craig Rice (this volume); Vol. VI in the Regional Murder Series (yes, "really"). Cases include William Desmond Taylor, Winnie Ruth Judd, and others -- and the bios of each chapter's author (here, including Erle Stanley Gardner) are a window into a different time.
So is the book itself, the most highly prized in the series — this hardcover 1947 first printing has no dust jacket, but the boards haven’t paid the price, some fraying to corners and some soiling/marks on the covers but nothing serious. Page edges show a little soiling as well; pages themselves are snug and not marked or dog-eared, but somewhat toned.
Not the most attractive iteration of this rarity, to be sure, but much more reasonably priced than most and will do just fine as a reading copy.
